Photo Sessions?

I have been asked if I am doing photo sessions these days. Here's the deal:

I am available to take pictures of individuals and groups most Thursday, Friday, or Saturday afternoons. My sessions last about an hour, and they take place in an outdoor setting where I can use natural light. If you have a place in mind, I am happy to accommodate within reason - no more than 30 minutes out of SLC . . . unless I happen to be in your neck of the woods or I just feel like experimenting somewhere farther away. If you have no clue where to go, I have a few ideas that work well.

I do not do trendy photo shoots or a lot of deliberate posing - it's just not my style. This does not mean that I am not open to other people's creative ideas and props! My philosophy is centered around honoring what is most genuine in people. I usually do a few traditional poses of the whole family, individuals in the family, and small groupings. However, I spend at least half of my time capturing interactions between family members (encouraging folks where needed). It helps if people think about what groupings they care most about before we begin the session.

I charge $120 for the whole session (up to four people), which includes a CD of 50+ high resolution edited images. You may order prints for extra if interested, or save money and take your CD to a photo lab of your choice. Extra people and pets are $10 each.

I am open to arranging shorter sessions or fewer people for a lower price. I don't mind doing engagement photos, but I currently do not shoot weddings. Please contact me if you have more questions.

Quick Summer Family Shoot

I was able to squeeze this family in for a quick session while they were in town. What I love about this family (this year and last year, actually) is that I hardly ever have to pose anyone. It is all natural interaction - just enjoying being with each other.

Business Direction

I've been thinking about which direction to take my business, and I admit that I am not positive right now. I know I can't live without taking pictures. I also know my time is extremely limited. So I am keeping the door open, even if only slightly, for business. If it happens to fit in my schedule, I am glad to be your photographer. Always feel free to contact me, and we can most likely work something out, or I can make recommendations. Of course, my mom and I will continue to make and sell photo cards for those who want them. We are grateful that we are still consistently receiving requests for our cards.

The following three albums represent most of what I love to photograph, and should give you an idea of my style. The only category not included is business events, since the rights to those photographs belong to the companies for which I work. Also, the photo card album includes photographs taken by my mother, Anne Stewart.

I hope you like what you see.

Stopping for the Roses . . . Again . . . and Even Closer than Before

Exactly one year ago today, before this blog was created, I included a post on my family blog about the amazing roses growing in my neighborhood (see post here).

In line with my sequence theme of late, and my desire to be more focused (see post here), the following is my series on the wild rose bush growing just outside my door. Each stage of the flower's bloom is unique. If I capture anything else in the next few days, I will add the photos. For now, enjoy this . . .
